DTSC Regulations – Toxicity Screening Levels and Cleanup Goals

New Levels   The Department of Toxic Substances Control [DTSC] is drafting regulations to add Chapter 51.3 to the California Code of Regulations, under Title 22, Division 4.5.    This rulemaking proposes to require that any human health risk screening or risk assessment shall use the most protective of the three federal and state accepted toxicity criteria sources for each cancer and non-cancer contaminant of concern for any site in California.   DTSC has determined that calculating screening levels

NASF Concludes 2016 Washington Forum

The NASF Washington Forum concluded last week after an extraordinary schedule packed with meetings and speaker sessions. California Leaders attend National Conference

Leaders from the Metal Finishing Associations of Southern and Northern California attended the annual NASF Leadership Conference this week at the Wyndham Grande Rio Mar Resort in Puerto Rico. NASF and State Lobbyists Provide Advocacy Updates for California Chapters

Bright Design Challenge: Fall Midterm Presentations

On October 27, eighteen talented students from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, presented midterm presentations for the Bright Design Challenge. This year boasts the most students by far participating in the Fall Challenge. Each project presented showed the ingenuity and talent of this year’s participants. Judging, though never easy, will be exceptionally difficult as all projects are extremely marketable and creative.   We are looking forward to the Final Presentations on December 8. The 2015 Metal Finishers of both Southern and Northern California Fall Outing was held last weekend at the Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa in Monterey, California. MFASC Members Visit Assemblyman

California Assembly Member Mike Gibson recently visited with members of the  Metal Finishers of Southern California.  Included in the meeting was a unique chance to tour  aerospace metal finishing company  E.M.E. based in Compton, California.  The tour offered insight into the fascinating world of metal finishing and helped to build a better appreciation for the impact of metal finishing in the economy and in our daily lives.

MFASC Golf Outing Huge Success

The annual MFASC Golf Outing was held this spring at the beautiful Pacific Palms Resort. It was a wonderful day – perfect weather, a beautiful course and an enthusiastic group of golfers.
