California Concludes Successful Fall Outing

The 2015 Metal Finishers of both Southern and Northern California Fall Outing was held last weekend at the Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa in Monterey, California. The weekend proved to be a great success with a great crowd, numerous networking sessions with key industry leaders, and evenings full of entertainment.

Special guests during the event were members of the NASF Board of Directors who conducted their regularly scheduled board meeting at the Fall Outing. Chapter leaders from the Metal Finishers Associations of both Southern and Northern California also conducted their board meeting during this time.

Although attendees were given plenty of opportunities to socialize, many spent their time meeting with peers and discussing current regulatory issues impacting the surface finishing industry in the State of California.

Of course, no event would be complete without a great hospitality suite and this year’s suite did not disappoint! Attendees visiting this “Halloween Happening” were greeted to a haunting display of spooky creatures, spider webs and a bar well stocked with scary potions, spiders and creepy cocktails.

The conclusion of this year’s Fall Outing featured a delightful dinner, great music, and a program generously sponsored by E.M.E. Inc., K&L Anodizing Corporation, KCH Engineered Systems, MacDermid, and Sheffield Platers Incorporated. In addition to a brief presentation from NASF Executive Director, Christian Richter, an official “passing of the gavel” was conducted to new Metal Finishers of Southern California Board President, Wesley Turnbow of E.M.E. Inc., who in turn presented a special plaque of recognition to outgoing President, Bryan Leiker of K&L Anodizing Corporation. Newly elected Metal Finishers of Northern California Board President, Ray Lucas of Valley Chrome Plating, announced the start of his term as President with the MFANC and recognized outgoing Board President, Terry McGuinness of Environmental Recovery Services, for his dedication to the Association and the industry overall. In concluding the presentation, President Turnbow stated: “We have one overriding purpose, one ultimate goal this year – to work together like never before – three associations, one industry advocate.”

Congratulations to the Metal Finishers of California on an incredible display and an unforgettable weekend.
