January 4th AQMD Rule 1469 Meeting

9th Working Group Meeting for AQMD Rule 1469

January 4, 2018

MFASC board members, members of the Association and staff attended the 9th AQMD Rule 1469 working group meeting at AQMD headquarters on January 4, 2018. Key points to note is that the public hearing date has been moved from February to April to allow additional time to evaluate concerns recently received from the public regarding toxicity of chemical fume suppressants. Further time has also been allowed to continue to test tank temperatures and concentrations, regarding the classification of tier two tanks. MFASC President, Wesley Turnbow, continued to question inaccuracies in the draft rule language, as did other members. The Association continues to urge AQMD to draft a rule that is built on up to date science that has been provided to AQMD and CARB. Rule 1469 could have huge consequences for the Metal Finishing Industry in California and we urge all members to participate in future meetings. Click here to download the complete presentation.
