California COVID-19 Vaccine Phases and Schedule

Vaccine Safety is a Top Priority | COVID-19 Vaccines are Here

California is currently implementing its COVID-19 vaccine distribution plan. So far three phase categories, 1A, 1B, and 1C, have been scheduled and their information has been released. It is important to know which phase category you fall under to be better prepared and know when it is time for you to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

The first available vaccines are being given to workers in the healthcare field and long-term care residents. The vaccine rollout then prioritizes high-risk people (such as those with health issues) and front line workers, known as phase 1B. 1B Tier 2 prioritizes industrial and critical manufacturing personnel, which could include members of the finishing industries. COVID-19 vaccines were created as a preventative measure to help people gain immunity against COVID-19 and help slow the spread of the virus. Current vaccines are being implemented in two separate doses and studies have shown that COVID-19 immunities are gained a few weeks after the final dose. Symptoms such as soreness, fever, or aches may appear following the dosage of the vaccine and are a common sign of the body’s immune system developing immunities from the virus.
