AQMD Rule amendment 1469 passed on November 2, 2018 at the South Coast Governing Board meeting. MFASC has been fighting this rule amendment for more than a year an half and having spent close to $ 600,000. The final rule has many changes favorable to our industry thanks to the associations efforts. MFASC member company Aircraft X-Ray Laboratories recently hosted a fundraiser and tour for Miguel Santiago for California Assembly 2018. Mr. Santiago enjoyed a personal tour of Aircraft X-Ray Laboratories and was able to network with MFASC board members in attendance. October 13, 2018 Congratulations to Sam Bell from Metal Surfaces on receiving the MFASC Lifetime Achievement Award on October 13, 2018 at the Fall Outing. September 25th and 27th, 2018 MFASC & MFANC recently held their annual Metal Finishing Conference in Southern California on September 25th and Northern California on September 27th. This year both conferences enjoyed record turnout and participation from the membership. Guests were treated to a packed hall of exhibitors, informative seminars and a great dinner. June 4-6, 2018 Board members from the Metal Finishing Association of California attended NASF SUR/FIN in Cleveland June 4 – 6, 2018. California board members Terry McGuinness, Jim Mille, Justin Guzman, Dan Zinman and Executive Director Bryan Leiker participated in an NASF chapter meeting to help improve relations and membership benefits. May 21, 2018 The 26th annual MFASC Golf Tournament & Fundraiser was on May 21st at Industry Hills Golf Club. This year we had a great turnout with perfect golfing weather, and thanks to our sponsors and players over $ 25,000.00 dollars was raised to help fund important association activities. May 12, 2018 The MFANC Spring Outing was on Saturday, May 12th at Golden Gate Fields in Berkeley, CA. Over 50 guests enjoyed a private suit overlooking the horse races with a fabulous champagne buffet. It was a great day for all the participated and helped by supporting the Metal Finishing Association of Northern California.
May 4, 2018 MFASC had a strong showing of supporters, including over 200 hundred employees and business owners attend the May 4, 2018 AQMD Governing Board meeting. Over fifty of our members testified in front of the AQMD Board about the devastating impact of the current draft of Rule 1469. The board heard our voice and delayed the board vote till at least September and instructed AQMD staff to continue to work with MFASC on a better rule. Please continue to
Sanitation Districts Earth Day EventApril 14, 2018 MFASC is proud to have exhibited at the 2018 Sanitation District of Whittier’s Earth Day event. This event featured fun and educational activities for all ages. This year over 3000 people attended and many of them learned about how the Metal Finishing Association of California works to protect our environment. CUPA Training Conference February 5-8, 2018 MFASC and MFANC exhibited this year at the 20th Annual CUPA Conference Training Forum at the Hyatt Regency, San Francisco, on February 5th – 8th. MFANC President Bobbi Burns, MFANC Vice President Terry McGuinness and MFASC Executive Director Bryan Leiker worked the booth. NASF Board Meeting at the Hyatt Regency LAX January 10-11, 2018 MFASC hosted NASF and MFANC at their January Board of Directors meeting at the Hyatt Regency LAX. Over forty people attended representing many companies throughout the United States. 9th Working Group Meeting for AQMD Rule 1469 January 4, 2018 MFASC board members, members of the Association and staff attended the 9th AQMD Rule 1469 working group meeting at AQMD headquarters on January 4, 2018. Key points to note is that the public hearing date has been moved from February to April to allow additional time to evaluate concerns recently received from the public regarding toxicity of chemical fume suppressants. MFASC Awards Scholarships to Bright Design Challenge Winners December 7, 2017 The Metal Finishing Association of Southern California recently awarded $20,000 in scholarships to the winners of the Bright Design Challenge. This program is sponsored by the California Associations for Metal Finishing and NASF, the National Association for Surface Finishing. The program at the Art Center of Design in Pasadena encourages students to incorporate surface finishing into new and innovative products.
